Anticipation is mounting for the Apple event, taking place today at 1:00 PM EST. For those of us who are Apple fans it is a no brainer, but for those who have not embraced Apple products I often hear ‘I don’t use an iPhone, I don’t care about the announcements’. When I hear this I am a little stunned. It is not hard to think back to see how Apple has changed all of our lives and how we listen to music, watch movies and communicate with one another. In 2006, our ‘smart phones’ where big, often required a stylus, and did a good job of handling emails and your calendars as well as make phone calls. With the announcement of the iPhone in 2007, there are dozens of phones which allow us to do all of that and so much more! I can entertain myself as I wait in lines or at the doctor’s office. I can watch movies, listen to music, and deposit checks into my bank account. You could argue that technology was coming, but it is Apple which forged the path and forced the competition to bring new innovations to market. With every Apple announcement you can look forward to other manufactures to respond in kind often taking it a step further and in some cases better than Apple. So wether you use an iPhone, Droid, or still have a flip phone you can be sure whatever Apple announces today will have an impact on your life.
Gymnastics
Connor had his first gymnastics class yesterday. Daddy was there with his iPhone to capture the event. Parents are not allowed on the floor and are forced to stand in the lobby behind windows so there are some shadows. Clearly he loves the class. Better video quality to follow.
Time Out
As most know by now we are expecting our second child in October and we have been preparing Connor to be a big brother. We have been trying to make this a very positive experience and explaining he has a very important job and has to be sure he teaches is little sister.
Apparently the message is getting through! The other day Tabitha received a swift kick from the baby and said something like “Mackenzie just kicked me”. Connor stopped what he was doing and jumped up ran over to Tabitha and said “Mackenzie we don’t kick, you have to go to time out” He then pretended to “take” Mackenzie from Tabitha and hold her in his hands and walked to the time out corner and counted “1-2-3, okay you can come out of time out” then returned her to Tabitha
Birthday Wishes
It has been two and half years since I lost my grandfather, and I still cannot bring myself to take his birthday off of my calendar. As I am fighting with Connor as I make dinner, he was trying to “help” which is code for make a mess, I cannot help but think about how I wish my grandfather could see Connor now. Connor was so small and was covered in wires, today I wish I could tie him down. Seriously the kid is non-stop, 100% boy and I would not change a think.
I don’t recall the last time he was able to see Connor on skype, but I am very happy he was able to visit and hold Connor before he passed.
Happy Birthday Grandpa Mac!
As a side note – I have several posts I am planning on getting ready including a recap of our Christmas trip to Walt Disney World
Connor’s First Haircut
Many people know by now our family is a little Disneytastic, so when we found out Disney offers a special ‘First Haircut’ package at The Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street we knew we wanted to have Connor’s first haircut experience there. The way his hair was growing it looked like the best trip would be our Christmas Vacation. I am not sure how first haircuts normally go, but Penny was amazing with Connor and I am still not convinced he even realized he got his haircut. I will be editing the video when we get home but checkout the raw footage here.
